Click the “Use Windows Defender” link and you’ll be informed Windows Defender has been disabled. Article is from June 27th - Maybe things have changed since then.Windows Defender will pop-up and say "This app has been turned off and isn’t monitoring your computer.” If you uninstall the other antivirus, Windows Defender will kick into gear once again and take over, providing antivirus protection." He has a screen shot that clearly demonstrates this. Hi @sewing1243, I have sent you a Private Message with the steps to collect logs.I really don't want to run two virus programs at the same time. I can confirm that I have this issue to on both of my windows 10 computers. The curious thing was that an older version of norton disabled windows defender properly. And when I try to open up Windows Defender through the search bar it tells me that the application has been turned off and isn't monitoring my computer.

Chris Hallum, a senior product marketing manager for Microsoft, said in an interview that because of all the security enhancements in Windows 10, consumers and businesses won’t have to install additional security software to protect their machines. Windows 10 will automatically disable Windows Defender if you install another anti-malware program. Not sure if this is a difference between Pro & Home or if it makes a difference which OS was installed before the upgrade.Windows 10 Home was installed on a W7 Home Premium and Windows 10 Pro on W8.1. Every time I boot up my computer I get the same notification saying that my firewall is off and my antivirus/spyware is off. When I click it, it comes up with a box telling me to turn Norton or Windows firewall on like in my previous post. I turned fast start up on and rebooted and didn't get the notification come up.It then brings up another box saying that both Norton and Windows firewall are off and then it quickly corrects it's self and says Norton is on. I'm going to try and turn fast start up back on and see if that makes a difference. I'm not sure how long I will keep fast start up on because I encountered a bunch of problems with Norton while using it.

I don't need it to also run to protect my system do I? The whole reason this thread is here is that Windows defender should be disabled when Norton is installed.
